Desperately

Hello everyone,

A. Can we use "desperately " at the end of sentences as follows?

1. They wanted a child desperately.

2. He was in love with her desperately.

B. Is "desperately" an adverb of degree in the above sentences?

This is OK.

Joseph A2. He was in love with her desperately.

This one doesn't work properly. We expect "desperately" to modify "in love" and hence to be placed before it, i.e. "He was desperately in love with her".
