Desired for Vs desired

Could someone tell me the difference between these sentences?
She got what she always desired.
She got what she always desired for.

Thanks.

I find only instances of "desire for" with desire as a noun. But it still seems to be valid. I would argue that the "for" provides emphasis to the desire, but that there is no real difference.

The second one is wrong. You do not desire "for" something; you just desire it.
