Grammar

Desert

Hello,

Is it grammatically correct to say: "I live in a desert". I know that with the environment things like "sea" always come with the definite article. But there are many deserts and I am singling out a specific one.

Or can I say both? "I live in a desert". "I live in the desert". (The person doesn't know what desert I am talking about). Thank you!

Thank you, Mister Micawber!!!

In that case, I assume I can say: "Whether you find yourself in a forest or in a desert, be prepared."
But also
"Whether you find yourself in a forest or in the desert, be prepared."

Right?
