Descriptive phrases

Will you help me understand the following sentences correctly?

I intended to write my mother a beautiful letter full of descriptive phrases and no split infinitives. I intended to write her every day.

The narrator "I" is a 13-year old boy.
Does "descriptive "here mean "describing well or vividly"?
