Description of the Czech Republic - please, correct soon

There are many traditional images of the Czech Republic which help people to have a better idea of what czech life is today.

Many people think of the Czech Republic and immediately think of ice hockey. Our ice hockey team, which is very well-known to all genuine fans of ice hockey, has won many prestigous prizes from world championchips, has been one time the champion of winter olympic games and since the period of Czechoslovakia, the matches with the Soviet Union (Russian nowadays) have been really popular. And what is more, the names like Jaromír Jágr, Dominik Hašek and Tomáš Plekanec are renowned worldwide.

When you ask any stranger about prominent people from the Czech Republic, the most likely answer you are going to get will be Karel Gott, who is an outstanding singer. He has an important part to play in the music industry and surely is the most successful singer throughout the czech history. The evidence of his proficiency in singing is shown in the prizes he has managed to win in the competition named "Ceský Slavík".

As far as alcohol is concerned, it is generally said that the Czech Republic is very famous for a considerable amount of beer and liquor that is drunk every single year. According to the czech society, foreign biers are no match for the delicious taste of czech bier. Not to mention, our country belongs to the countries with the highest consumption of alcohol. What also represents our country is a liquor called Slivovice. As a rule, Slivovice is made from plums. There are, however, a lot of other possibilities from which this particular liquor can be made.

Methamphetamine, also known as pervitin, is a drug with which our society is closely connected. The thing is that we have developed one of the ways of making pervitin from drugs which are available in chemists. Although it costs quite a lot to buy these drugs, it is still worth it.

Tatra, founded in 1850, is a vehicle manufacturer in the Czech Republic, which also belongs to the third oldest car makers in the world, and represents our car industry best. However, production ceased in 1999 and the popularity of the make Tatra has been replaced by another vehicle manufacturer named Škoda, which is doubtless of great significance in the world.

Ah, OK: so that last paragraph should begin something like:

"Our car industry is still best represented by the vehicle manufacturer Tatra, which was founded in 1850 and was the third oldest car maker in the world."

It's the most difficult part of your essay, because you have two different tenses: you're talking about how Tatra was a car company, but they're not making cars
