Description of a difference

I have four types of surfaces (cylindrical, conical, plane and toroidal). If three of them have the same style of representation in a specific software, and just one is different. How can I academically write a sentence to describe the difference? for example, can I say:

"Among all the types of surfaces, the toroidal surface has a special representations based on the arc length" .

(Software is an uncountable noun, so don't speak of 'a software'.)
