Describing a graph

Dear all,

I just wrote a decription of a graph, would anyone be so kind to check the structure and grammer please? Thank you in advance!

The chart shows trends of the number of students from five different countries which are accepted onto modern language courses at universities in Great Britain between 1994 and 1999. It is immediately clear that these courses at British universities are most popular by French students.

However, between 1997 and 1997 there was a dramatic decrease in the number of French people studying these language courses. In this period, the number of French students accepted has been dropped with more than 1000 students.

German student were in 1994 second most represented in language courses at British universities. But, in five years time, the popularity among German students decreased with almost 20%, while the number of Spanish students steadily increased from 2000 to 2500.

Language courses at British universities were least popular among Italian and Russian students. The number of Italian students slightly increased between 1994 and 1997 and remained the same from 1997 to 1999. The number of Russian students fluctuated between 1994 and 1999 at about 400.

All in all, there is a striking difference between students from five different countries accepted on modern language degree courses at British universities.

As an aside, for future reference, when you quote material using Microsoft Word, please make it the very first item in your post. We have a special dialog box which strips away all the MS code. But it doesn't work when you write an introduction first.

Have you got any comments regarding my "graph description"? Thank you in advance.

"Trends of" works in some cases, but here I'd prefer "trends in."
Likewise, "accepted in courses." "Into" is a maybe, but "onto" doesn't work at all for me.

Since you're talking about past events, I'd say, "which were accepted in etc."

Most popular among French students.

However, between 1997 and 1997 (typo??)
