Hi, I don't understand "describe rather than depart from it", Does describe here has another meaning than-

Depart from, I understand as like in The car veered off the road, is that correct for the word depart from in my text?

I would say: It favors / backs /approves /agrees with the system, rather than depart from it I thought so because here, 'depart from' means 'differ'.
