Descender vs descendent

Hello!

Could you help me, please?

May I equal the words "descender" and "descendent"? The dictionary says that "descender" is the one who descends, and the verb "to descend" has a lot of meanings including "to be a descendent". Thus, may I use the words "descender" and "descendent" as synonyms?

Thank you!
