Hi, Does "derive inspiration" has the correct meaning for the word I have in my text Derive his doctrines?

I found obtain for "derive" but as I'm not sure with the correct meaning, using examples helping me better, in this case.

"He did not analyze the Bible and derive his doctrines from its pages; he learned from his own revelations"

Yes, this is closer to the usage in "derive his doctrines."
I'd say the difference lies in the amount of work you must do to "obtain" the thing you're deriving.
It may take a lot of work to derive a formula, or a doctrine; but not very much at all to derive pleasure from watching the ballet.

Hi Avangi, derive a formula I understand here really as develop (that might take lots of time) maybe I should use this meaning ... I think that it's very rare to derive a doctrine at least for me as Hebrew speaker- so the example I added here deriven from a word it maybe the most common use of this word ...
