Hi,

Do we say,

1. My first posting to a rural school was in 1998.

or

2. Mr first deployment to a rural school was in 1998.

Posting, for sure.

(Deployment is usually used for troops.)

You could also assignment.

Posting sounds more British. Assignment sounds more American.

In my opinion, anyway.
