Deployed upon us

Hello,

Im trying to figure out which is the correct way of phrasing the following sentence:

a. The Gods have deployed on us a series of unfortunate circumstances.
b. The Gods have deployed upon us a series of unfortunate circumstances.

B seems correct, but i wasnt sure if you could say that A is correct as well?

Either is OK, but "upon" is more godlike.
