Does it make sense to say:



"This picture depicts my family about 20 years ago."

'depict' doesn't work well there. 'depict' is like 'describe'. A picture doesn't really describe anything. I'd say 'shows' instead of 'depicts'.

This picture shows my family about 20 years ago.

Or you can rephrase it:

This is a picture of my family [from / as it was / as they were] 20 years ago.
