depends vs. will depend vs. would depend

A.  The asking salary is negotiable.  It depends on the total compensation package.
B.  The asking salary is negotiable.  It will depend on the total compensation package.
C.  The asking salary is negotiable.  It would depend on the total compensation package.

1.  I'm writing a covering letter where the company asks for my salary expectations.  Which of the above do you think is correct?
2.  What is the difference in meaning between A, B, and C?
3.  Do you think C sounds more polite than A and B?
4.  Which is most natural?

They are all correct. I would use A or B. They are the most direct.

The following is completely my personal opinion based on American expectations. If you've gotten to the stage where you're negotiating salary, directness is more important than politeness. 'would depend' sounds too deferential to make yourself a credible candidate who can stand up for himself. You're inviting them to

Just a question on A and B. Since A focuses on the present situation and B focuses on the idea that the package has not yet been decided, don't you think A also suggests that the package is still unknown/undecided since this is still at the early stage of writing a cover

You could look at it that way, although I would caution you not to make the mistake of over-analyzing these subtleties.

Here's another one. One could argue that B shows more confidence that a job offer will be made.
