Dependent marker in this noun clause

I read/interpreted the email as the store manager is chasing their customers for payment.

A dependent/noun clause always has a dependent marker preceding it, overtly or covertly...

What would the dependent marker be for the underlined noun clause?

By dependent marker I mean 'They knew that I was angry.'

Thanks

I'd call it faulty composition, and hence no clear marker, is we'll create one: I read/interpreted the email as an explanation / announcement that the store manager is chasing their customers for payment.
