Departure

Hi, what fits more for the word in my text "departure"- Deviation or exception?

"Russia’s firm position in defence of the Syrian regime is seen as a clear departure from post-Soviet Kremlin policy which until recently tried to avoid a direct clash with western powers and hence a resumption of the cold war animosity."

Hi Mister, I see, I wish I could understand what "departure" is, the dictionary shows something like "coming out from" but that still doesn't make a lot of sense for me, thanks

A variation from a usual stance/opinion/view.

Hi Mister, I wonder if this word is also correct "divergence" ?

I'm still trying to understand how to write it in my language

Yes, that is also a similar meaning. Look: in English, 'departure' is the appropriate word choice, and I don't think any number of synonyms is going to get you closer to the choice in your language. Use the bilingual dictionary for 'departure' (the one that doesn't mean 'leaving on a plane, train or bus').
