0 I'd say the den probably has a TV in it, might be in the basement, and is probably where the kids are sent to play while the father reads quietly in his reading room (or office, or library, or study). However, the terms are pretty vague - I have lived in my present house for five years, and we are still not quite clear on which of the two largest rooms is a living room and which is a den. 0-

0 I agree with khoff. When I hear 'den' I assume it's the TV room. Another common term for the same room would be 'family room.' I don't hear 'reading room' too often, but assume it to be either a study or library as well. 0-
