Demographics / Demography

Hi,

Would you say the two words "demographics" and "demography" mean the same thing in the following examples? Can they be used interchangeably here?

(1) "Europe’s demography is changing."
(2) "The newspaper will be making some changes in order to adapt to the region's shifting demographics."

Thanks.
