'Deliver' Definition

Hi teachers,
Would 'sent' be an appropriate synonym for 'delivered' in this context?
They ordered some books which were delivered to the office last Friday.
'Delivered' means, in this case, that the books have arrived and have been received at the office last Friday.

Are the definitions correct?
When you send a book, you give the book to the recipient via a postman; post office; or express service.
When you deliver a book, you hand the book to the receiver personally.

Thanks in advance.
