Is it a delicacy or delicatessen shop where they sell caviare and other things like that?

Hi Vladimir,
I'm not familiar with the phrase "delicacy shop." What sorts of food would you consider to be delicacies? Fancy chocolates? Candied gingers? Fine spices?

I'm not a huge fan of Google for confirming usage, but there are a few thousand. The only one I saw for the US dated to 1917.

The thing is that 'delicacy shop' as a combination does not occur in any of the 400 million words of American English, and these corpus results point to the rarity of this combination. In other words, 'delicacy shop' is not a collocation, not a fixed expression (unlike delicatessen shop/store). Still, however, there are names of shops that feature this word (su
