Delays in overtime payments

Hi teachers,

The workers have been complaining about delays in overtime payments.

1. Does this mean like wages/ salaries for a regular work time which has not been paid to the workers or the payments for extra hours beyond regular hours the employer owes them?

2. What is overtime pay?

Thank you.

Hi Avangi,

How are you? Thank you for your help.

I work from 9:30 - 6:00 pm regularly six days a week. If I work beyond 6:00pm, I'll get paid for overtime hours I put into.

What's the difference between "delays in payments" and "delays in overtime payments"?

Thanks again

Hmmm, do you receive more per hour on the sixth day? If you work til seven on one day, are you paid at your regular rate, or at a higher rate for the extra hour? It all depends on the agreement you have with the company.

"Delays in payments" would refer to any wages which are not paid on time.
"Delays in overtime payments" would imply that you received your scheduled straight-time

Straight time is generally understood to be the hours for which you will be paid at your basic hourly rate. It can also mean that rate itself. So it can work as a noun or as an adjective ("straight time pay").

"I only get straight time for working Saturday." This refers to your basic hourly rate.
It also might be used in this case to refer to the actual money you receive for worki
