Deja vu

I understood 'deja vu' means the feeling that you have previously experienced sth which is happening to you now that my dictionary defines. It also indicates the French origin of the word or phrase.

Is deja vu a word or a phrase in French?

If it consists two French words, what do "deja" and "vu" mean literally respectively in French?

Thanks!
