Degree work - supervisor?

Hello, guys. I am looking for a word to call a supervisor who is in charge of students' interactions during degree work - consulting, dispensing tasks, responsible for planning and time schedule. What do we call him? Chief supervisor? I am struggling for the words here, please, help me out. Emotion: smile

Depending on the task at hand, it could be supervisor, adviser, proctor or counselor. Proctor is usually more limited - supervision of an examination.
