Degrease IS THIS A WORD

DEGREASE?
  • Leave the plate in the sink with some soap to allow the plate to degrease. (to get grease out).

Haven't heard it used in connections with washing dishes, but it would certainly be appropriate. The problem is, washing dishes is such a popular pastime that it has it's own vocabulary. It would be hard to break in with a new term.
