defintion sense of the word

Is this correct?
Spanish is my mother tongue but not in the definition sense of the word because my mother isn't Spanish but that's the language you grew up speaking.

No. It's not correct grammatically or logically. "Mother tongue" is, by definition, the first language a child learns.
Your mother's mother tongue is, I think, what you mean.
