Definitions of ''appurtenance'' and ''right-of-way''

appurtenance:

1: an incidental right (as a right-of-way) attached to a principal property right and passing in possession with it (M-W's Dictionary)

right-of-way:

3 a: a precedence in passing accorded to one vehicle over another by custom, decision, or statute b: the right of traffic to take precedence (M-W's Dictionary)

Please explain the above red statements.

1-- passing in possession with it = sold with it ; it is part of the property. 2-- a precedence in passing = can pass first. To take precedence = to have the right to go first.
