Definition of Availability in ESL

I have an adult doing an internship and job development at a hospital with me. I want to see what his availability is to work this summer. How do I explain that I want his available hours? He does not understand 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. he is available, but may only work 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
