Yes, it's based on the TV drama. Women stayed home and kept the house sparkly clean and had dinner waiting on the table while the men folk commuted the city where they chased women, drank heavily, smoked incessently, and (as long as you were a straight, white, Protestant, middle-class) male, you pretty much got what you wanted.
