Definite or indefinite article?

Hi. Please help. I think we can use either the definite article "the" or the indefinite article "a" for the following sentences. Is that right?

1. (talking hypothetically generally) How terrible it would be to have a/the mind of a 2-year-old.
2. How nice it would be have a/the complete understanding of human nature.

Top answer

Both are fine in #2. In #1, 'a' is a little unusual, since everyone has a single mind.
