Definite Article Part 2

Hi! What is the difference between 4 and 5? Number 3 is wrong but why can't you put "the" in? Thanks, Fulvio.
1. The Christmas Festival is in December.
2. Christmas is in December.
3. The Christmas is in December.
4. The New Year's Day is in January.
5. New Year's Day is in January.

#4 is also unnatural. Some proper names take the , some don't. Names of days normally don't take the , but that usually changes if something like festival or holiday is added, because festival or holiday would take an article.

2. Christmas is in December.
3. The Christmas is in December.

Holidays don't take 'the'. That's why 3 and 4 are wrong. 1 is OK because the holiday name is used as a modifier. 'the' doesn't go with 'Christmas'.

I would like to point out that to most English speakers, "The Christmas Festival" is not the same as "Christmas," which seemed to be suggested by the original list of terms. Christmas is a holiday, celebrated by Christians, that comes every year on December 25. A "Christmas Festival" would be a particular event held around Christmas time by a particular community, an organization, etc.
