Let's assume that several students wrote bad essays and they had to rewrite them. What would you say?
a) Ms Hill, our teacher, read THE revised versions of OUR essays. b) ....read OUR revised versions of OUR essays. c) ...read OUR revised versions of the essays.
I'd automatically opt for a) but I don't know why. I don't like b) because the repetition of the same pronoun (our) sounds strange. I don't like c) because it sounds as if the students didn't write the essays themselves, just the rewritten versions.
Would you also pick a)? Why/why not?
Top answer
I would pick a) for the same reasons you did.
