Definite article or no article

A: "What did you send me the last time we chatted?"
B: "I sent you songs I had listened to when I was a child."
"I sent you the songs I had listened to when I was a child."


Is it okay to omit "the"? What's the difference in meaning between the two if it's correct? Thank you.

We usually just use Simple Past instead of Past Perfect if the sequence of events is clear, as it is here.Clive
