Definite article before EU

Dear All, if I add the European Union at the end of the address, should it be with or without definite article ? 4 Songwell Str., Town, postal Code, Country, the European Union or 4 Songwell Str., Town, postal Code, Country, European Union. Thank you in advance

As an American, I had no idea EU was now part of postal addresses? If so, leave out a "the"; me, I'd just write "E. " instead.

  • I suppose this helps keeps letters for Austria from going to Australia?
