Definite article before a gerund

On the SAT test, this sentence is said to be correct:

"My favorite activity at this camp is the swimming."

I wonder about the use of the definite article "the" in this sentence. Don't we usually write this way? "My favorite activity at this camp is swimming."

Could someone explain why "the" is used? Thank your for your help.

It's probably because the activities at the camp are definite, so the person is talking about "the" swimming.

Thanks for your prompt reply. You are right that the sentence does not come from an official SAT test. It is from a practice test. I also thought that the definite article is used to refer to a specific activity at the camp, but was not sure because it sounds strange.
