Definite article

Do the names of the tenses carry the definite article? I have seen it's being used on some sites.

Examples, in case I couldn't express myself well.

'The simple past tense' or 'simple past tense'.

Thanks.

sundarnaz Do the names of the tenses carry the definite article? They usually do. One exception I can think of is when the name of a tense is used adverbially: 'Jesus wept' is a past tense construction.
