Is there any differences between "most of universities offer loans" and "most of the universities offer loans" ?
I thought maybe in the first one the speaker is referring to the majority of universities in general, even the ones he doesn't know about them specifically but is guessing based on his previous knowledge, whereas in the second sentence the speaker refers to a limited number of universities which he is familiar with. Is another condition probable?

As you surmised, the first refers to universities in general.
The second re
