I've never heard it. "improve yourself" is possible, but it doesn't have the meaning you want, as far as I can tell. I can't even think what word to use there.

Thank you very much, CJ. We say "deepen oneself" in a somewhat poetic way in the Japanese language, so I was wondering whether you guys use a similar or exactly the same expression. Thanks again:-)
