"deepen" one's insecurity?

Is it the right verb to use at this point?
I think "worsen" can substitute for it, but I just think that "deepen" should be better. But of course I'm not entirely sure.

Thank you.

Word choice depends on many factors. Is it a short story or a UN report? Is it a memo or a love letter?

Word choice depends on many factors. Is it a short story or a UN report? Is it a memo or a love letter? Is it a poem or graffiti? Is it dialogue or narration? It would be nice to have at least a sentence to work from, but I would say that "deepen" is usually better than "worsen".
