dedication

Hi teachers,

When I want to give a picture , a book etc., to a person I like or respect (e.g. friend of mine , my teacher ...)can I write on it a dedication as below ?:

1/ For/To Mary , my best friend.

2/ For/To my best friend , Mary

3/ Dedicated to my teacher ,Mr J. Brown with respect on the occasion of the Teachers' Day

4/ Affectionately/respectfully dedicated to Mr J. Brown , my teacher on the occasion of the Teachers' Day

I'm sure these sentences sound odd to native speakers , so please help me with various ways of writing such dedications.

This is my take: I generally read "to my mother, to my husband" on the first page of the books. "Affectionally/ respectfully dedicated to someone" is correct.

This is my take:

I generally read "to my mother, to my husband" on the first page of the books. "Affectionally/ respectfully dedicated to someone" is correct.

If you're the author/editor, you can dedicate your book to sb by printing such words on it to show your respect or affection. But if you bought a book and gave it to sb, I don't know if you can dedicate it the him/her.

Thank you Verade ever so much , but do you mean the words in red e.g. TO in (1) and FOR in (2) are preferrable or they are just the only ones to be accepted ? and I wonder why in (3) the before Teachers' Day is in red and the in (4) is crossed out .
