In modern world, there is a variety of job, but in my grandparent's time, the jobs were limited due to centralize economy and many people was engaged in a carpenter from candle to grave. It was a job quite popular at that time but rarely had people who was trained as a carpenter.
When I was a child, I usually hang around my grandfather to saw him sculpted normal logs become delicate.
