Vocabulary

Decline, reject, refuse

Dear all,

I am a little bit confused about the meaning of these verbs. I would say that all mean the same, correct ? Their use in a sentence is unclear, could you please check my examples?

1 I declined his proposal
2 I refused his proposal, I refused to go
3 I rejected his proposal, I rejected him

Thanks
Pamela

In this context, they are used similarly; however, that is not the case in all circumstances. Also, "declined" is the more polite word choice, and "rejected" is the harshest of the three.
