Decided

Hello everyone,

Is the first "decided" correctly used in the following sentence?

1. After she decided to work in publishing, she also decided to move to New York, the most important centre of the publishing industry in America.

Or must it be?

2. After she had decided to work in publishing, she also decided to move to New York, the most important centre of the publishing industry in America.
