Decide (on) my path.

I thought that since I had nothing to lose, I should let the Buddha help me and decide (on) my path.

Is 'on' needed?

Thanks.

To decide on something is to choose it from two or more alternatives: We talked it over and decided on the Porsche. I looked at all the color chips and decided on Low Tide Green. The thing decided on is explicit and immediately follows "on". In your sentence, "my path" is what the Buddha will pick. That is nonsense.
