People think that Joe's steak is good quality but now the journalists have debunked how it is made. correct?

Then 'debunk' is the wrong word.

Debunk:
expose the falseness or hollowness of (an idea or belief).
reduce the inflated reputation of (someone).

Neither of those applies to secret chemicals in steak. I suggest 'expose, disclose' or perhaps 'decry, condemn'.
