Dear you

Is it appropriate to write 'dear you'?

I've seen it several times used in this way. What does it mean?

Top answer

It just seems like a slightly humorous way to refer to the person that you are writing to. Also casual and a bit intinate.

I've never seen or heard of that, but I like it!

It sounds totally appropriate as a salutation in informal letters or emails to good friends.
