Dear teachers, Check my answers please...

Each sentence below has four underlined words or phrases. Identify the one underlined word or phrase that must be changed in order for the sentence to be correct.


My answers are in blue!

1-His collection of antiques is as valuable than that owned by the best museums.

Than must be replaced with as.

2-Judging from the architecture, I think this photo might be taken in Spain.

Might be taken must be replaced with must have been taken.

3-Often when the weather is too hot, people are very thirsty but not terrible hungry.

Terrible must be replaced with Terribly.

4-There isn't a lot flour left, but you are welcome to the little there is.

A lot must be replaced with much.

5-I was astonished to hear Joe had failed all his exams, and neither were his parents.

The second clause doesn't make sense to me at all ! I can't think of a choice.

6-I was amazed to hear that Chris had won the first prize, and so did Tom.

So must be replaced with also.

7-Harry slept more comfortable than his sister because he had a softer bed.

Nothing seems wrong to me in this sentence.

8-Dr Littlewood is planning on moving to a warmer climate as soon as he will retire next year.

I think there must be something wrong with will retire, but I'm not sure of the correct form.

Your version is grammatically correct, but I woud have used 'might have been taken'.

Your version is correct. You could also write 'a lot of'.
