Rifad Islam, eight years old lives with his parents in a quiet rural village at Singalgram under Birol Upazila in Dx district far from the chaotic life-style of urban area. His father Salim Islam is cultivating his own land and mother Parvin Akhter is a house wife. They are two brothers and he is the youngest child of his parents. He reads in class two at Singal Madrasa School. He likes to play football with his friends.

Few days ago, her mother found that her youngest child has a white spot in his face. She thought that the spot were allergy. They were started allergy treatment but it had no any positive result.

Few days ago, under the CLHSS project of LB the Govt. staffs and volunteers conducted the IEC campaign in the Singal village, Birol upazila. They shared the basic facts of leprosy and showed the pictures of sign symptom of leprosy in the community people. Rifad’s mother informed them that her child has a white spot in his face. The volunteers visited his house and examined his all body and saw that he has one spot/patch in his face. They requested his mother to come to Upazila Health Complex at Birol upazila. He came to UHC with his parents and diagnoses as a PB leprosy patient. The staffs given health education to his parents and gave them MDT for six months.

His family his worried about his child when they know that it is leprosy. We talked them personally that it is a disease likes other disease and Rifad will be cured after receiving MDT.

Rifad mother is gratefully uttered “as the IEC campaign on leprosy in our village under the CLHSS project of LB was conducted so my son got new like. I am really very happy.”
