Hi,

When do you use "Dear Sir", "dear teachers", "dear friends".. when writing? It's very formal?
On this forum, can't I use this?Why?

Dear Quoc, It's just a common opening statement. You can use it here, but you don't have too. We are extremely INFORMAL, I think.

if you are more comfortable writing "Dear Alan" than you are writing "Hi Barb," you should do what you prefer.

Dear Alan,

Good advice, Barb!
