- The dog or the sentence? There's a lot wrong with the dog![6] (Is anything wrong with my sentence?/Are there any mistakes in my sentence? Thank you. Is what you should have written)

sorry about it.

Do you think "My dog has been dead is better than My dog is dead."?

Under what circumstances, should the present tense used?

"the conversion" is better or conversation is better?

When she walked into the party, conversation stopped and everyone in the crowded room stared at her.

Thank you.

Your dog is dead. If you dog had been dead it would have died and been brought back to life.

Present tense for things in the present. The dog is dead - now (present)

The dog was alive (past).

When she walked into the party the conversation stopped - all the conversations or there was only one occuring which stopped.

When she walked into the party conversation

Note also that the original is a comma-splice error. It shoul read:

My dog is dead. It died two years ago.

Can we use "has been dead" when talking about "how long"? For example, "The dog has been dead for five years."

Thanks for your reply.

Now I have known the present and the past.

Present tense for things in the present. The dog is dead - now (present)

The dog was alive (past).

What about the present perfect?

The dog has been dead, it died two yeas ago.

It sounds like the same as the present tense, right?

The dog is dead, it died two year

The dog has been dead for five years-- Fine (except for the dog, of course).

The dog has been dead. It died two years ago.-- No good without more predicate: 'The dog has been dead for two years.' I don't know why this is so.
