Days of the week.

Do we really need to put "a" before Tuesday in the sentence below? Here the day is given without dates.

Eric was born on Tuesday.

If Eric is just a few days old, no article is needed. If Eric was born, say, two or three days ago, you can say: Eric was born on Tuesday. That means he was born last Tuesday. (He has been christened quite quickly, by the way!)

If Eric can talk, he'll say: I was born on a Tuesday.
